The Bratislava City Choir is one of the best-known major choirs
in Slovakia. It was established in 1971 by the City Cultural Centre
in Bratislava under the name Bratislava Chamber Choir. In 1979
it was renamed Bratislava City Choir

The Choir makes regular apperances at the most significant international event in Slovakia - The Bratislava Music Festival. The repertoire of the Choir is very wide. It contains over-for oratorios, masses and cantatas (131) by composers of all styles and epochs, as well as several contemporary works. The repertoire for a cappella performances includes more than 299 works of renaissance and baroque periods, choral compositions of classicism nad romanticism. The repertoire also includes a large number of works of 20 th century composers. The choir has recorded 95 a cappella works in radio, 11 programmes in Slovak television, published 12 CD and 6 LP and singles. The Choir is very flexible regarding the number of singers, ranging from a chamber formation up to large choirs. The Choir performances are positively appreciated both by the audience and the critics because of their high artistic value. |
